This journey encourages students to develop deeper knowledge about the subject domain through critical thinking tasks that require analysis and fact-checking. Student motivation and engagement are also boosted by embracing the novel use of AI.

Students build appreciation for the value of giving full disclosure of the source and influence of AI generated content (disclosing inputs, iterative process, and biasing during prompt-craft).

Students complete the old essay writing assignment in less time with ChatGPT, but document the input process

Step 3

Write evaluation of the generative process

Students write an evaluation of their generative process using a novel critical-thinking framework for generative models. This includes fact checking 3 statements in the contents of the ChatGPT output.

Step 4

Peer Review each other’s process

Students use a rubric to evaluate the authors’ process and their reflection. They also (double fact check 3 statements to compare how fact-checking holds up to the modern standards.

Students retake the quiz to measure how their attitudes have changed.
