Activity setup

FeedbackFruits tool(s) used:

Student reflection and assessment of their own abilities is crucial to their development. When students self-assess they are able to identify the discrepancies between their current and desired performance. Allowing them to better set goals, and engage in strong self-regulatory processes.

In this activity:

Scaffolded learning experience: The goal is to give students a scaffolded learning experience. As an educator, you can provide guiding instructions throughout the activity and attach criteria that students should anchor their assessment to. Providing several of these low-stake moments throughout a course may help keep students engaged and familiarize themselves with the assessment criteria, leaving them ready for high-stake moments.

Performance monitoring: If your goal is to create moments throughout the course where students reflect, monitor their performance, and self-assess either more openly or on a specific set of criteria, this template is a great starting point.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Self-assessment skills: Students will develop the ability to accurately assess their own abilities and performance.
  2. Goal setting: Students will learn to set meaningful and achievable goals based on their self-assessment.
  3. Reflective practice: Students will engage in reflective practices to identify areas for improvement and strategies to achieve their goals.
  4. Self-regulation: Students will enhance their self-regulatory processes, improving their ability to manage their learning and performance.
