Why this learning journey?

Learning journeys are multi-step course templates based on active learning for different target learning outcomes. This journey will help you with:

Track student progress over time

The portfolio generates a holistic picture of students’ learning progress that answers many questions: Which skills have learners accomplished? Where do they stand as compared to the learning goals? What activities do they enjoy doing? and more. With these inputs, instructors can provide timely support and improve the syllabus.

Enable meaningful interactions

With the ability to use student-initiated feedback and involve mentors who may be external to a particular course environment, the developmental portfolio enables students to reflect on their learning and progress and, at times, be guided by a mentor in this process.

Increase student autonomy

By offering a place where students can access all the received feedback and visualization of their progress, the portfolio encourages learners to actively identify their weaknesses and make improvements. This provides them with more agency in their learning process.

Journey steps

1
STEP 1

Step 1: Set up a developmental portfolio

Instructors create a dashboard to measure student progress using FeedbackFruits Developmental Portfolio. In this, instructors set up a shared library to host activities, rubrics, and learning journeys, as well as develop a competency framework that outlines the key competencies students need to achieve at the end of the course.

Step 3: Students work on the first draft

After receiving assignment instructions, students work on the first draft of the assignment (which can be an essay, video, podcast, slide, etc.) and submit it to the Peer Review tool.

Step 4: Students review peers’ first drafts

Step 5: Students receive personalized feedback

Instructors can also choose to enable the Feedback Coach feature, which generates AI-powered feedback on technical aspects of students’ writing, such as spelling, grammar, structure, and more. This further helps students to improve their work later on.

Step 6: Instructors give feedback

Instructors provide feedback on students’ first drafts. Thanks to the personalized feedback stage, instructors can have more time to emphasize higher-order aspects of students’ writing, such as reasoning or argumentation.
