Activity steps

  1. Read instructions: Students carefully review the instructions and learning outcomes of the activity.
  2. Submission: Students submit a paper analysing the case study
  3. Provide peer feedback: Students give feedback on their peers' submissions, based on the rubric and feedback tips provided
  4. Received reviews and feedback-on-feedback: Students read their received feedback and additionally rate their received feedback on a usefulness scale of 1 to 10, with optional written clarification  
  5. Reflections: Students reflect on the outcomes of the activity and their learning.
  6. Grading: Grades are based on students completing the peer review

In this activity

  • The peer review focuses on students analyzing the 'Fire at Mann Gulch' case  study, which can be replaced with a case relevant to your course.
  • A structured rubric is provided to guide students in giving constructive, evidence-based responses and can be modified or expanded as needed.
  • The 5 Principles of S.A.F.E.R.  are incorporated as feedback writing tips to help students provide clear, thoughtful, and actionable feedback.
  • Anonymity is enabled so students give and receive feedback anonymously, though this can be adjusted if desired.
  • A reflection step encourages students to review critiques, make revisions, and refine their own work for improvement.
