Activity steps

  1. Read instructions: Students carefully review the instructions and learning outcomes of the activity.
  2. Watch & listen to video: Students listen to the podcast video attached.
  3. Peer discussion: Students will contribute a set amount of discussion threads and questions throughout the interactive video and interact with peer contributions as well. 
  4. Receive reviews: Students will receive reviews on their contributions from peers to get an evaluation of their engagement.
  5. Reflection: Students can optionally reflect on how the discussions shaped their understanding of the topic  
  6. Grading: Grades are awarded for completing the discussion.

Activity goals

This activity helps facilitate a flipped classroom approach to your teaching. When student engage with material prior to class there are several benefits:

Multimedia engagement to increase student success

In this activity

  • This template includes a podcast video (no visual, only sound) focused on standardized testing as a challenging topic. You can replace the content here to match your course needs for students. 
  • Students must listen to and discuss at least two of their peers’ podcasts, though this number can be adjusted to fit your course.
  • Students have the option to explore and discuss additional peers’ podcasts beyond the assigned two to broaden their understanding of legal issues.
  • An optional reflection step is included, allowing students to consider how engaging in the discussion influenced their understanding and perspective on the topic.
  • Grading is based on interacting with the podcast and participating in the required discussions, and can be adapted according to course needs.
