Activity steps

  1. Read instructions: Students carefully review the instructions and learning outcomes of the activity.
  2. Submit: Students record a 2–4 minute podcast addressing one of the prompts about red flag legal issues and submit.
  3. Peer discussion: Students listen to and discuss the podcasts of 2 of their peers 
  4. Open discussion: Students can optionally join a further open discussion after their required discussions 
  5. Reflection: Students can optionally reflect on how the discussions shaped their understanding of the topic  
  6. Grading: Grades are awarded for completing the discussion.

Engaging online discussions to foster meaningful interactions

In this activity

  • Students submit a 2–4 minute podcast reflecting on a chosen “red flag” legal issue, incorporating personal or professional experiences. The topic can be adapted to suit the focus of your course.
  • Students must listen to and discuss at least two of their peers’ podcasts, though this number can be adjusted to fit your course.
  • Students have the option to explore and discuss additional peers’ podcasts beyond the assigned two to broaden their understanding of legal issues.
  • An optional reflection step is included, allowing students to consider how engaging in the discussion influenced their understanding and perspective on the topic.
  • Grading is based on completing the podcast submission and participating in the required discussions, and can be adapted according to course needs.
