Gamified quiz for competition, debate, and learning

Start using this template

Activity steps

  1. Read instructions: Students go through the instructions to understand the activity requirements
  2. Quiz: Students complete a quiz with several rounds and multiple-choice questions. Students answer individually but their results count towards their groups overall performance
  3. Group results and strategy discussion: After each round, students see their group’s combined results & have time to discuss before moving on to the next round
  4. Instructor debrief & final reflection: Once the quiz is complete, the instructor will debrief the class, discussing common misconceptions from the quiz, highlight teams with the best overall strategy, and encourage students to reflect

Activity goals

Low stakes assessment to improve knowledge uptake

In this activity

  • It is expected that the instructor facilitates this quiz live during a class with the students present 
  • Student’s responses are submitted individually but results are shown as groups
  • Instructors can create multiple rounds of questions of increasing difficulty. After each round, pause for group discussion and reflection
  • Example questions are added around the topic of game based learning. These can be modified to fit your own class topic
