Activity steps

  1. Read instructions: Students go through the instructions to understand the activity requirements
  2. Provide peer feedback: Students provide feedback  to their peers using this rubric to evaluate engagement, leadership, and team contribution.
  3. Received reviews and feedback-on-feedback: Students read the feedback they received and rate this feedback on a usefulness scale of 1 to 10, with optional written clarification
  4. Reflection: Students reflect on the outcomes of the activity and their learning
  5. Grading: Grades are based on students completing giving feedback to their peers, reading their own feedback and writing a reflection

Activity goals

This activity helps facilitate a flipped classroom approach to your teaching. When student engage with material prior to class there are several benefits:

Empowering students with a critical and collaborative space

In this activity

  • A video from the creator of this template is added into the instructions section. This can be replaced by another video if preferred 
  • Anonymity has been turned to ensure students can more comfortably provide constructive feedback to their peers.
  • A collaboration rubric has been added, that considers students interactions with their peers, and contributions to the teamwork. It can be removed, edited and adjusted as best suits your activity.
  • Students will also provide a rating and comment on the feedback they received, to help them reflect on what makes good feedback and if the feedback they received was helpful to them.
  • A reflection ties the activity together, it's important that students actively reflect on how this activity helped them and what they felt they got out of it.
  • Grading is turned on to ensure all students provide feedback to their peers and reflect on their own feedback.
