Interaction is a key determinant of successful learning, as knowledge is constantly constructed and shaped while learners engage in different levels of interactions, namely student – student; student – teacher; and student – content. Given the lack of physical contact in online settings, it is challenging to generate, and maintain such interactions.

Set up instructions for an effective discussion

Specify which submission types (audio, video, or text), and the number of files to be handed in by the students. This ensures the activity standard, and gives students flexibility when completing the assignments.

Upload deliverables and start peer discussion

After students submit their deliverables, get assigned to their peers' work, and start discussing. It's up to the instructor how many they need to discuss.

Participate in open discussion

In this step, students can view and comment on everyone's work. They can choose which discussion(s) they would like to participate in under instructors’ guidance.

Discussion on Work participation analytics

Provide detailed analytics on student participation and progress in the assignments, from which teachers can identify who has completed the required steps and which students might need help.

Discussion on Work filter and sort

Allow teachers and students to identify which comments or points to focus on with multiple ways of filtering and sorting the discussion input: the most (least) comments, the most upvotes, and more.

Discussion on Work most valuable contributions

Let students select certain peers’ contributions that they found most valuable to increase autonomy and avoid free-riding.

Discussion on Work reflection

Set up a reflection step at the end of the activity, in which students write a reflection on what they learned from the discussion assignment. This helps promote critical thinking and deeper learning.

Instructors love FeedbackFruits

Listen to what educators have to say about us.

“The teaching team was able to see who had done what, and the students were immediately able to see the feedback released. It was really really successful.”

“[Group Member Evaluation] was a starting point for students to be able to improve their collaboration.”

Dr. Frits Flesch

"The TBL tool can help instructors untap the full potential of the TBL methodology. It can also be used outside the TBL cycle. At the end of the day, it’s a tool that allows students to complete multiple-choice quizzes in groups and to receive interactive feedback on their choices. This is a great way of fostering discussion and peer-to-peer learning."

Fernando Pastor Merchante
Assistant Professor

"My students liked using FeedbackFruits: You can make your courses much more sparkling and vibrant, and now it seems that students are taking the feedback more seriously!"

Dr. Tiffany Gunning
Senior Lecturer

"Peer Review tool gave me back my weekends! Prior to FeedbackFruits, I used to spend hours setting up randomisation, sending link of individual files to students, collating feedback, and finally sending the feedback back to the students to reach the final round of reflections."
