What is Collaborative learning?

Collaborative learning is an educational approach to teaching and learning that involves groups of learners working together to solve a problem, complete a task, or create a product. In collaborative learning, students improve their grades, increase their self-esteem, reduce anxiety and develop social assistance in a positive atmosphere for cooperation.

Why collaborative learning?

Research shows that educational experiences that are active, social, contextual, engaging, and student-owned lead to deeper learning and skill development (communication, self-management, leadership) as well as an increase in self-esteem and responsibility.

Better student performance

Students perform better in a collaborative environment than their peers that work alone, also reinforcing satisfaction with the entire learning process.

How does FeedbackFruits support collaborative learning?

Implementing collaborative learning requires strategic planning, as it challenges students’ views on knowledge and their role in learning. Group assignment should be intentional rather than random, using FeedbackFruits learning activities like Group Formation to align teams with project requirements.

Preparation is essential, facilitated by Team Based Learning, which enables pre-work assignments, readiness tests, and peer evaluations.

Interactive Document and Discussion on Work provide scaffolding, ensuring students develop collaboration skills effectively.

Assessment in collaborative learning serves as an opportunity for authentic evaluation, measuring various dimensions such as deliverable quality, communication skills, and teamwork. Learning activities like Assignment Review assess technical aspects, Skill Review ensures fair grading of presentations, and Self-Assessment allows students to reflect on their collaboration skills.
