The Readiness Assurance Process (RAP) of Team-Based Learning (TBL) is critical in improving students’ knowledge uptake, test scores and self-directed learning. As students can work both individually and collaboratively on a quiz during this RAP stage, they develop collaboration, communication, and problem solving skills.

Team Based Learning is designed around the individual Readiness Assurance Test (iRAT) and team Readiness Assurance Test (tRAT) modules. It helps instructors optimize the implementation of TBL and identify trouble-spots easily with in-depth insights into individual and team performance while students apply their knowledge and receive real-time feedback.
Select your LMS:
Assign teams manually or use your LMS groups
Teacher can configure the teams manually when setting up the activity or automatically import existing LMS groups.
Individual readiness assurance test (iRAT) phase
In this first phase, students test their knowledge individually and scores are not revealed until after the second phase.
Team readiness assurance test (tRAT) phase
Students answer the same set of questions that are automatically added from the individual phase as teams this time.
The tool enables students to complete the second step of the multiple choice quiz (tRAT step) in teams which the teachers can import directly from the LMS. The first student to enter the tRAT step will be automatically assigned as the team leader of the group and will be able to answer on behalf of the group. The answers and progress will be automatically updated for the rest of the team members.
Scratch-off questions are enabled in the tRAT step of the tool. Unlike regular multiple choice questions, scratch-off questions provide students with multiple attempts to answer the question and only reveal whether the answer is correct after submitting. If the selected answer was incorrect, this is revealed to the student, but the other answers remain veiled.
Teachers can set deadlines for when they would like both the iRAT and the tRAT steps to be available for students and be closed for students. They can schedule a specific time for the opening and closing of the steps or adjust this manually.
The tool offers teachers analytics on how questions are answered by students in both the iRAT and tRAT step including detailed information such as number of correct answers, skip rate and the attempts and time per question. This way, you can identify which questions were difficult to answer for students and help them dive into those further with a clarification session during the lecture.
The tool offers students a summary of their performance after they have completed both the iRAT and tRAT steps. Through this summary, they are able to make a comparison of how they performed individually versus in the team.
